Through centuries of queer history that happened in full view of everyone who mostly forgot to look, the the names and dates and proof of life that were always valuable if not always valued, always reall if not always acknowledged, always important if not always named, never said aloud, never made into art that could walk into a room and climb on a table naked.
Behan mines gay inspired imagery and information, scaffolding digital photocollages that revive a history always present if seemingly never noticed or given the time of day.
The collages Behan makes are new, new enough that one may not know with to do with them yet, and that’s totally OK. Neither did he or history.
