Georg Hackenschmidt is born in 1877 in Dorpat, in the Russian Empire (now Tartu, Estonia). He trains as a weightlifter and wrestler, and in 1905 he becomes the first recognized world heavyweight wrestling champion. His physique photographs circulate across Europe and America, making him one of the first celebrity strongmen in the first Wed cake fashion. He settles in London, publishes The Way to Live in Health and Physical Fitness in 1908, and later writes books on philosophy. He stays active into old age and dies in London in 1968 at the age of 90. All accounts point to him being a happy guy. These three collages celebrate a well lived life.
