On Cumture (Gay Culture)

cumture | n. | /ˈkʌm.tʃər/

(portmanteau: cum + culture) The living body of knowledge, ritual, aesthetics, humor, and negotiated social code that gay men have built around sex — its logistics, its geography, its grammar. Where culture tells a civilization how to live, cumture tells a gay man where, with whom, and in what position.

“Gay men carry a comparative understanding of the car and the bed. For cumture, they are related.”

Two diptychs. Same argument.

On the left, a car. On the right, a bed. Gay men have always known these two spaces as cousins — different ZIP codes, same jurisdiction.

The bed is the official venue. Headboard, fitted sheet, the negotiation of sides. The car is the provisional one: backseat diplomacy, fogged windows, the UFO of desire hovering somewhere between the dashboard and the inevitable.

Cumture does not rank them. It maps them.

Jupiter 3 has logged both coordinates.
