And Away We Go

Postscript

Three years into this body of work, and it’s almost entirely about other people — men from a hundred years ago, men from twenty years ago, men who barely made it into the historical record at all. It would be easy, doing that kind of work, to end up standing outside it, a historian cataloguing someone else’s desire. That was never really the intent.

The work comes from somewhere. A person still very much in motion, still curious, still open to what might come next — not in a chronicler of what desire used to look like, but someone who still expects to feel it directly, firsthand, again. If there’s one hope threaded through all of it, it’s a straightforward one: a real relationship, romantic and mutual, somewhere up ahead rather than behind.
